Grant Number: 38 din 01/03/2024 (COFUND-CETP-ECom4Future-1)
Start Date: 01/03/2024
End date: 31/10/2026
Objectives
Topics
Goal 1: Design and development of a physics-informed AI solution for optimized control of energy communities on a cross domain level, by including social, policy, legal and regulatory aspects, without neglecting the technical feasibility by considering the smart grid as well as cross-sector prosumers with EVs, heating and cooling and renewable generation.
Goal 2: Achieve impact by providing the customers and investors with high time resolution power profiles of consumption and production for different use cases. This will assist future investments, market decisions and provides a tailor-made solution that increase efficiency.
Objectives
Objective 1: Development of an interdisciplinary conceptualization of energy communities from technical, psychological as well as regulatory and legal perspectives. Identification of relevant psychological indicators for support of energy communities and the willingness to participate in all four project countries.
Objective 2: Analysis of market segmentation and user profiles for customers in energy communities, including apartment buildings. Classify different types of loading conditions in the typical energy communities using power profiles characteristic to modern / smart living environment.
Objective 3: Physics-informed energy analytics and load monitoring for energy communities, apartment buildings and small commercial, to gather additional insights for fault prevention, investment planning and forecasting.
Objective 4: Development of a coupled local energy market for the exchange of flexibility between different customers including the physical state of the local power grid in energy communities.
Objective 5: Analysis of security and privacy aspects in the energy supported by an ICT platform.
Objective 6: Demonstration of the cooperation of different flexibility providers and energy communities as well as gathering insights from trial sites.
Objective 7: Identification of synergies among the community members, achieving broad dissemination and exploitation of the project activities and results, facilitating replication of the developed methods throughout the energy sector.
Impact
The main outcome of the interdisciplinary conceptualisation of energy communities will be a holistic and realistic picture of energy communities in its psychological, economic, technical as well as legal dimension. This will impact citizens and policy makers. Policy makers will benefit of policy recommendations elaborated based on the findings of the interdisciplinary research. Energy service companies can make use of the findings when choosing how to implement an energy community, how to approach citizens to find the right people for their projects and interested citizens will benefit both from better regulation as well as more accessible energy services. In addition, advanced market-based control methodologies and AI based energy services will reduce resource consumption and increase awareness for the underlying technical system.
